LAST TRIBUTES PAID TO LATE CLLR MUSHTAQ QURESHI
One month after his passing away "A celebration of his Life" was held for late Councillor Mushtaq Qureshi, on Sunday 29th November at the Beethoven Centre, in the heart of the ward he served as a Councillor for 15 years. Over 100 friends, local residents, family members, colleagues and political adversaries turned up to pay their respects and condolences.
Quotes from the tribute:
1. Friend "Lots of love and so much respect for Mushtaq and all his work in Bangladesh and Westminster for social justice." Andy Gregg
2. Colleague "The Qureshi family has so much to be proud of in what Mushtaq stood for and what he achieved. Never let him be forgotten." Cllr David Boothroyd
3. Local resident "He was a contemporary of my parents yet with greater depth, breadth and vision on so many issues, personal, local, regional, national and international. I am glad he is a father of notables like Murad and Papya, yet he is a class act that can never be repeated. I thank you for all that he has done." Christina Broadley
4. Political adversary "I knew him from before he became a Councillor and both liked and respected him greatly. Serving on committees with him, he was a very sensible and amicable colleague." Cllr Michael Brahmans
5. Family "He was a colourful, humorous and larger than life character who could relate to any generation, whether his own age or far younger. His legacy, stories and legend will forever remain with us." Anjum Shabbir
